Naples – Piles of garbage that invade the street, torn bags, abandoned furniture and bulky waste that make it almost impossible to pass.
This is the dramatic scenario that repeats itself every evening in Vico Lammatari, one of the historic streets of the Rione Sanità, in the Third Municipality (Stella – San Carlo all'Arena). Despite numerous reports, the area continues to be left in decay, sparking the anger of the residents.
“This is the situation in the evening. Tell me what to do,” writes a resident posting images on social networks showing mountains of waste piled up along the alley. The photos speak for themselves: the neighborhood, a symbol of cultural and tourist rebirth, is exhausted, abandoned by the institutions on a basic problem like street cleaning.
An unheard cry for help
Citizens report having sent multiple complaints to ASIA Napoli, the Municipality and the Third Municipality, but so far no effective intervention has been implemented. Meanwhile, the stench and the health risk increase, while children, the elderly and families are forced to live with the devastation.
"People live here, not rats. It is humiliating to have to fight for clean streets. We want immediate answers," thunder the residents, exasperated by the inertia of the authorities.
Community requests
The protest is getting louder. The residents are asking:
Urgent evacuation of waste accumulated;
Tight controls and fines for those who abandon rubbish on the street;
An efficient collection plan, with services also dedicated to bulky waste;
Greater attention from the Third Municipality, with constant presence and listening to the needs of the neighborhood.
If the institutions continue to ignore the emergency, the situation could degenerate. The Rione Sanità, the beating heart of Naples, cannot be transformed into an open-air landfill. Citizens are threatening protests and are ready to take to the streets to regain the dignity they deserve.

I honestly don't understand how it is possible that the situation remains like this without any intervention. The waste is everywhere and the residents are tired of reporting without having answers from the competent authorities. It is an unacceptable situation.
