Villaricca – He was driving his car along Corso Italia when, at around 22 pm, he was stopped by the Carabinieri of the Giugliano mobile radio unit.

The restless attitude of the young man, a 24-year-old with no criminal record, aroused the suspicion of the military, who decided to carry out a more thorough check. A choice that proved to be decisive: under the steering wheel, well hidden but within reach, the police they discovered a gun.

It is a Beretta 6,35 gauge, complete with magazine with 7 bullets, perfectly functional and reported stolen in 2017. The weapon was seized and will be subjected to ballistic tests to verify any involvement in bloodshed or other crimes.

The gun was reported stolen in 2017

The 24-year-old was arrested and transferred to prison, where he is at the disposal of the judicial authorities. No statement was made by the young man at the time of his arrest.

At the same time, the Arma's checks have been extended to the so-called "red zone" of Giugliano, in particular between Piazza Gramsci and Via Labriola. The Carabinieri are in action, with the support of the Labor Inspectorate of Naples and the ASL Napoli 2 Nord: several commercial activities are targeted.

Two entrepreneurs, owners of a coffee shop and a pastry shop, were reported for violations in terms of work and safety. In total, fines of 15 thousand euros were imposed.

A large-scale operation that demonstrates the attention of the police forces for the control of the territory and the prevention of petty crime in sensitive areas of the province of Naples.

The article talks about an arrest of a young man who had a stolen gun, but I wonder how it is possible that there are still so many guns in circulation. Law enforcement should do more to prevent these incidents.
