Montalto di Castro – A beach game turned tragic on Thursday afternoon in Montalto di Castro, in the Viterbo province.
A 17-year-old boy from Rome lost his life after being buried in the sand of a hole he had dug himself. The tragedy occurred near the "Villaggio California" campsite, where the young man was vacationing with his family.
According to initial reconstructions, the 17-year-old was playing with his younger brothers and had decided to dig a hole about one and a half meters deep.

He fell into a hole five feet deep.
The little brothers, who had momentarily moved away, noticed theaccident and alerted the father, who immediately called for help.
Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and attempted to revive the boy in vain. Despite their efforts, the young man was pronounced dead.
The Tuscania Carabinieri conducted the necessary investigations, while the body was handed over to the Civitavecchia Prosecutor's Office for further examination. The family, in shock, was vacationing at the campsite at the time of the tragedy.

This news is very sad and makes us reflect on the risks we face on the beach. It's always important to be careful when playing in the sand, especially with children. Never dig deep holes.
