Naples - No family quarrel, no inheritance dispute, or anything else. Just drama. The drama of someone who can't see an elderly brother suffer and decides to end that suffering with an extreme gesture.

This is the most accredited hypothesis by investigators on the tragedy that took place this morning between the Spanish Quarter and Chiaia.

The two brothers, Raffaele Poce, 75, a former security guard, and his older brother, 80, a former sacristan of the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, were found dead inside a house in vico Santo Spirito, near Piazzetta Carolina. Both had gunshot wounds.

According to the reconstruction by the police, it was a murder-suicide. Raffaele Poce shot his brother, who was seriously ill and in poor health, and then turned the gun on himself. The two lived separately, but the former security guard often went to visit his older brother, who lived alone.

Poce's wife also confirmed the dramatic reconstruction. She told investigators that her husband was distressed by the conditions of his brother, who was already waiting for surgery, and could no longer bear to see him suffer.

This morning, realizing the gun was missing from the drawer, she feared the worst. She rushed to Vico Santo Spirito, but it was too late. And now she mourns the death of her brother-in-law's husband.

It's sad that things like this happen. Life is difficult sometimes and people can't handle the pain. I hope there is more attention on these situations, because we shouldn't reach these extreme gestures, but it's complicated.
