Ischia – Moments of fear occurred off the coast of La Mandra beach, where three young people were rescued after drifting on a pedal boat. The Coast Guard's intervention, which detected the emergency situation in time, was timely.
The boys had rented a pedal boat a short distance from the village of Ischia Ponte, but strong gusts of wind quickly pushed them out to sea, preventing them from returning to the shore.
A rubber dinghy from the Ischia Port Authority , passing through the area, spotted the boat in distress and immediately began rescue operations. A local boatmen's cooperative also took part in the rescue operations, hooking up and towing the pedal boat to shore, saving the three young people.
State Police jet skis also responded to the scene, ensuring the area was safe during the rescue. None of the children were injured.
It was a very dangerous situation for the kids on the pedal boat, but fortunately the Coast Guard intervened promptly. It's important for everyone to exercise caution when renting boats, especially in adverse weather conditions.
