It happened again, and this time to Salerno: a Sita Sud driver was attacked by a passenger Furious over an unauthorized stop. The incident, reported by UGL Autoferrotranvieri, occurred yesterday evening on a bus headed to Campagna, departing from Salerno at 20:15 PM. Shortly after arriving in the Fuorni area, the driver was confronted by a passenger demanding to stop at an unauthorized spot on the route.

When the worker refused, the man completely lost control: first he began hitting the door of the vehicle, then he activated the emergency brake, causing it to open automatically, and finally he physically attacked the driver. The driver suffered several bruises and had to go to the emergency room, where he was given a five-day prognosis. The attacker, meanwhile, fled and is still being sought.

Gabriele Giorgianni, general secretary of the UGL Autoferrotranvieri Salerno, raises the alarm: "It's no longer acceptable. Our workers board ships fearing they'll be punched just for doing their duty. Words of solidarity are no longer enough: we need security, armored cabins, and security cameras. We want safety, not applause."

A strong and clear demand, compounding the growing discontent among local public transport operators, increasingly exposed to violence and increasingly less protected. Routes, service, punctuality: nothing matters unless we protect those who responsibly guide thousands of citizens to their destinations every day.

This is indeed a serious problem; stronger measures are needed to protect drivers and ensure a better service for the citizens who use the bus every day.

I don't know how it gets this far, but I believe public transportation needs to be safer for everyone. Violence accomplishes nothing and only harms us all.

It's incredible how people can react this way, but there are so many who don't understand the work of drivers and think they can do as they please. We need to have more respect for those who work.
