Bacoli – The Guardia di Finanza conducted a raid along the Phlegraean Coast. This morning, the Naples Naval Air Operations Department seized a body of water measuring approximately 2.200 square meters, illegally occupied by 54 vessels within the municipality of Bacoli.

The intervention is part of a plan to intensify controls against illegal state-owned and commercial land along the Campania coast.

The person who ended up in trouble was an entrepreneur, owner of a regular maritime concession limited to 900 square meters, who, according to the investigations of the Guardia di Finanza, had extended his use of the area beyond the authorized limits, occupying abusively a much larger portion of the state property.

The man was reported to the Judicial Authorities for illegal occupation of state land.

The operation also involved military personnel from the Baia Police Station, who will now conduct further tax investigations related to the activity conducted in the seized area. The operation required the use of naval units and the Corps' Divers Unit, which were essential for underwater inspections and a complete census of the vessels.

The so-called "Maritime Police" will continue their operations in the coming days with further checks along the entire regional coastline. Their goal, investigative sources emphasize, is to protect public property, combat illegal occupation, and ensure fair conditions for nautical and tourism operators who comply with regulations.

The Guardia di Finanza's intervention was necessary, but it may not be enough to stop the illegal fishing that continues to exist along the coast. I hope future operations will be more frequent and targeted, to safeguard the environment.
