Race against time to track down the newborn
SSalerno – Carabinieri and police are racing to locate a four-month-old baby who was taken by his father from the Ruggi hospital in Salerno this morning without medical authorization.
The incident has caused great concern, especially because the child's tests had revealed a positive result for cocaine.
The child, the son of a homeless Moroccan couple, had arrived at the emergency room during the night with a code blue. Subsequent urine tests unfortunately revealed the presence of cocaine, although initial investigations ruled out transmission through breastfeeding.
This worrying detail was immediately reported to the police, with the Flying Squad officers having already interviewed the parents.
However, this morning, a new alarm was raised when the father removed the newborn from the pediatric ward without medical consent. Carabinieri officers from the Salerno Company responded to the scene and are now working closely with the police to locate the couple and, more importantly, the baby.
Law enforcement's top priority is to locate the newborn to check his health and ensure he receives the medical care that, according to health workers, he still requires. The case is now the focus of an in-depth investigation to clarify the details of this delicate situation.
