Caivano – He was hiding almost 400 grams of cocaine in a flowerbed in Parco Verde, but was caught and arrested by the Carabinieri.
Pietro Ponticelli, 56 years old, already known to the police, ended up in handcuffs, stopped by the soldiers of the local company while he was trying to hide a plastic bag containing the drug.
The man was spotted digging in the soil of a condominium flowerbed, a suspicious act that didn't go unnoticed by the Carabinieri, who are engaged in daily anti-drug operations in the area. Investigators followed him and stopped him before he could return to his ground-floor apartment.
Inside the bag, buried shortly before, 391 grams of pure cocaine, still uncut, were found, likely destined for the drug dealing network that has been attempted to reactivate in the neighborhood in recent months.
Ponticelli was arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. After the usual formalities, he was placed under house arrest pending judicial review.
The operation is part of the increased surveillance efforts in the Parco Verde area, which has long been under observation due to the risk of resurgence of drug dealing hubs.
