Rome – Antonio Conte can finally welcome his new defensive lynchpin. Napoli has completed the signing of Sam Beukema, a Dutch center-back born in 1998, from Bologna for a total fee of approximately €30 million, including bonuses.
The defender, one of the key figures in the Rossoblu's European campaign, will be available to the Salento coach starting Tuesday, the day of the training camp in Dimaro. This signing was strongly desired by Conte, but also by Beukema himself, who for weeks had expressed – through his entourage – his desire to join the Azzurri. Bologna tried to hold out until the very end, but ultimately had to give in.
Beukema arrived at the Two Towers just a year ago, in the summer of 2023, from AZ Alkmaar for around €8 million. After a season of constant improvement, his value has more than tripled. Now he's off to Napoli, where he'll be tasked with leading the defence in Conte's new era.

It's great news for Napoli to have signed Beukema, but I hope he can adapt quickly to the team. Sometimes players struggle to adapt to a new league, and that could be a problem.
