The intervention took place this morning during an operation by the patrol boat of the Naples Naval Air Operations Department, engaged in enhanced controls along the tourist coasts of Campania.
The fishing boat, stopped near the famous stacks of the blue island, was sanctioned with an administrative fine of 2.000 euros.
In addition to seizing the fishing gear, the authorities also deducted 12 points from the license. The shipowner, already known to the Guardia di Finanza, now risks having his fishing license suspended.
The catch, deemed fit for human consumption by the Local Health Authority, was donated to Caritas.
The Guardia di Finanza reiterated that maritime surveillance will continue nonstop, day and night, especially in areas of high environmental value such as marine protected areas. The goal is to combat illegal fishing and protect the marine ecosystem of the Gulf of Naples and the Campanian islands.
