Capri – A ferry ride from Capri to Naples turned into a nightmare after a passenger became aggressive over a weather-related delay.
The Carabinieri reported a 63-year-old from Anacapri, who allegedly threatened the flight crew with a butterfly knife, claiming he was “in a hurry” for an eye exam.
The ferry , departing from Capri for Naples, had been slightly delayed due to adverse weather conditions, including rough seas and heavy rain. But for the man, who was scheduled for an eye exam in the city, the situation was unacceptable.
Despite the crew's attempts to calm him down, explaining that the sea conditions required greater caution, the passenger lost control.
Anger at the delay and the threat with the knife
Tensions escalated when the 63-year-old pulled out a butterfly knife and pointed it at a member of the onboard bar staff who intervened to calm him down. The scene sent some passengers into a panic, but fortunately the situation did not escalate into physical violence.
The ferry left shortly after, arriving in Naples without further problems. Upon disembarkation, the Carabinieri of the Stazione Scali Marittimi and the Nucleo Operativo Centro identified and stopped the man, seizing his weapon.
The 63-year-old will now have to answer for illegal possession of weapons, resisting a public official and aggravated threat. An episode that demonstrates how haste and impatience can lead to reckless actions, with serious legal consequences.
