They were transporting dozens of counterfeit items, including bags, belts, and wallets bearing well-known international fashion brands, but were stopped by the State Police in the heart of Naples' historic center.

Two men, a 24-year-old and a 44-year-old, both residents of the province, were reported for receiving stolen goods, counterfeiting, and selling products with false markings.

The check was carried out this morning in Via Ranieri, where the officers of the Police Station Vicar-Mercato, engaged in a patrol service, noticed a suspicious car with two people inside.

When asked for documents and inspected the vehicle, the police discovered 43 items in the trunk—including bags, wallets, belts, and clothing—bearing known counterfeit brands.

The two men were unable to provide plausible explanations regarding the origin of the merchandise, which was immediately seized. Both were charged at liberty.

The news of counterfeit goods stopped by the police is very interesting but also alarming. Checks should be more frequent to prevent the sale of fake products that harm the local economy and consumers.
