It is believed the theft was carried out by at least three people who arrived at the scene in a van. After neutralizing the high-voltage poles, the criminals tampered with the manholes and removed hundreds of meters of copper electrical cables, then loaded the material onto the van and fled.

The way the theft was carried out – targeted, silent and rapid – suggests the work of a specialized gang or a commissioned action. The damage caused is enormous, not only on an economic level but also functional: the Palasele, in fact, is currently without electricity.

Law enforcement has launched an investigation to identify those responsible. Meanwhile, work is underway to restore the electrical system to allow the facility, a key hub for sporting events, concerts, and other events in the Sele Plain, to reopen.
