Naples prepares to relive its most intense dream, one that transcends time and the boundaries between the sacred and the profane. On Tuesday, August 5th, as part of the "Estate a Corte 2025" festival, the docufiction "Maradona, San Gennaro and the Strike of Miracles," directed by Giulio Gargia, returns to the Foqus Foundation. This highly anticipated return, following the success of its first screening, blends documentary, fiction, and animation into a visionary and poetic tale.

The protagonists of the evening event, titled "You're a Legend – Heroes of the Imagination," are two figures who embody the very soul of Naples: San Gennaro, played by Patrizio Rispo, and Diego Armando Maradona, portrayed and voiced by Zap Mangusta, son of the legendary Bruno Pesaola. The film depicts a surreal and passionate derby for the definitive conquest of the Neapolitans' hearts, set in the year of the third Italian championship, against the backdrop of the city's profound transformation.

The evening opened with the documentary "De Sica Actor" by Antonio Mantova, a tribute to the great master of Italian cinema. This was followed by Gargia's ironic and powerful narration, enriched by the testimonies of iconic figures from the Neapolitan and national scene: from Roberto Saviano to Maurizio De Giovanni, from Luigi De Magistris to Conchita Sannino, including street artist Salvatore Iodice and anthropologist Marino Niola. A choral portrait, depicting a Naples that is not only mythological, but also concrete, social, popular, and visionary.

The film isn't just a tribute to two icons: it's a manifesto of a changing Naples, a Naples that triumphs without miracles, a city that rewrites its identity amidst the streets of Forcella, its murals, its chants, and its devotions. A city poised between the sky and the pitch, between faith and football, but one that today manages—perhaps for the first time—to find its strength elsewhere. It's no coincidence that screenings will continue outside the region: on August 7th, it will be at the Cinema Centrale in Imperia.
