Giugliano – The accomplice of Antonio Esposito, the 30-year-old from Giugliano whose body was found in a canal in Lagoi Patria after a two-day search, has been arrested.

This is a minor who, according to investigations, took part in a robbery together with the victim three days ago when Antonio Esposito , despite being under house arrest, escaped to commit the robbery.

It was the images from the video surveillance cameras that betrayed and framed the arrested minor and gave a precise picture of what happened to the Carabinieri who conducted the investigations under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office of North Naples and the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Naples.

The 17-year-old is charged with aggravated robbery, receiving stolen property and failure to provide assistance.
The two, namely the minor arrested today and the victim Antonio Esposito, allegedly committed a robbery at a petrol station in Giugliano in Campania, then fled into the surrounding countryside via a river canal.

The minor caught on video surveillance cameras in the area

But due to the thick vegetation and the muddy bottom, the adult had sunk and was missing. The investigations, conducted quickly by the Carabinieri through an intense and close analysis of the video surveillance systems, technical surveys and the listening of numerous witnesses, allowed to immediately identify the alleged perpetrator, who was arrested and taken to the CPA – Colli Aminei, awaiting validation.

The lifeless body of the adult accomplice was finally found, following incessant search activities, in a stretch of the canal where the vegetation was particularly dense and the seabed treacherous, also with the help of the Fire Brigade's diving unit and dog units.
