Giugliano – What seemed like a routine check turned into a drug bust. Carabinieri officers from the Giugliano Company's operations unit arrested Pasquale Mancino, 41, already known to law enforcement, on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
His 35-year-old wife, who was present in the home at the time of the incident, was also reported at large.
It all started around 22 pm, in Via Arco Sant'Antonio, where the police noticed a Lancia Y with Mancino on board. The man, in an attempt to evade the control, aroused the suspicions of the police who decided to carry out a personal search: a dose of cocaine was found inside the wallet, while in the man's fanny pack there were 50 euros in small denomination notes.
Suspicions prompted the police to extend the search to the 41-year-old's home. Inside the apartment, the Carabinieri found 86 grams of cocaine, already divided into doses and ready for sale, as well as €905 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity, and various drug packaging materials.
Mancino was transferred to prison, while his wife was charged. Both will face charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
