This morning, around noon, a fire broke out on the slopes of Vesuvius, near Via Panoramica, which extends across the entire area adjacent to Via Montagnelle. Firefighters, Carabinieri, and Municipal Police responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
The area has been cordoned off and traffic is prohibited. Since the area is also populated with homes, businesses, and commercial activities, evacuation is being considered.
The excessive heat, the wind and the undergrowth are putting the rescue efforts to the test: the fire of a few years ago that literally caused Vesuvius to burn for days comes to mind.
