San Tammaro – A large fire hit one of the green lungs of the Royal Site of Carditello, in the municipality of San Tammaro, in the province of Caserta, yesterday evening.

The flames, which broke out in the Eucalyptus Forest located behind the main entrance to the historic Bourbon Palace, burned approximately 7 square meters of wooded area, a space usually reserved for family activities and equestrian events.

The timely intervention of the security staff of the Real Sito di Carditello Foundation , alerted by the thick column of black smoke, was crucial. The firefighters quickly arrived on the scene, successfully extinguishing the flames and limiting the damage to the local flora and fauna. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the Foundation's employees or collaborators.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. "We don't yet know the motive," said Maurizio Maddaloni, president of the Foundation, "but we have already filed a complaint with the Carabinieri station in Santa Maria Capua Vetere. They will be responsible for determining whether it was arson."

Meanwhile, this morning, the Marcianise Forestry Carabinieri conducted a survey of the area, searching for clues that could help reconstruct the events and determine any responsibilities.

The Eucalyptus Forest, cared for and maintained in perfect condition by the Foundation, represents one of the symbols of the renewal and rebirth of the Bourbon site. "Precisely in the affected area," Maddaloni emphasized, "a thistle, the plant that gave Carditello its name, survived, and an eagle soared: symbols of resilience.

Like the hawk and hoopoe that are returning to populate our forests. Let's move forward, with our heads held high, in the name of legality, transparency, and environmental protection."

The fire, whose origins remain shrouded in mystery, has not deterred the Foundation's efforts, which promises to continue its work to enhance the royal site despite the obstacles.
