Salerno – Tragedy struck this morning on the A2 Mediterranean motorway, where a 42-year-old man lost his life in a car accident.
The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning on the northbound lane toward Fisciano, in the stretch of road that falls within the municipality of Salerno, causing severe traffic delays and queues.
According to initial reports, the man, whose identity has not yet been released, was in his car when, for reasons yet to be determined, he lost control of the vehicle and overturned.
The impact was fatal and there was nothing that could be done for the driver, despite the timely intervention of the 118 paramedics, who arrived on the scene with an ambulance from the association La Solidarietà di Fisciano.
The accident occurred on the Salerno-Avellino highway, just before the Baronissi exit in the Salerno area. Traffic police officers from the Eboli subdivision responded to the scene and conducted investigations to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the accident. Firefighters were also present. At this time, no other vehicles are known to have been involved.
The rescue operations, police assessments, and removal of the damaged vehicle caused significant traffic disruption. Traffic was severely slowed between Salerno and Baronissi, with tailbacks affecting the northbound lane of the highway.
