Naples – “Chianu Chianu,” the anthem celebrating Napoli’s fourth Scudetto, was officially presented at the Circolo Nautico Posillipo.

A song that is much more than just a song: it is a choral tribute to the team, the city, and the Neapolitan philosophy of life, performed by a true dream team of Neapolitan artists.

Written and set to music by pianist and composer Sasà Mendoza, with artistic direction by Lucia Cassini, the piece brings together great names in Neapolitan entertainment: Enzo Decaro, Giacomo Rizzo, Gianni Conte, Patrizio Rispo, Gino Rivieccio, Mario Maglione, and many others. A team of voices and talents united by one thing: being die-hard Napoli fans.

The title "Chianu Chianu," which means "slowly, slowly" in Neapolitan, evokes slowness as an existential choice and an act of love for life. A hymn to calm and awareness, in contrast to the frenetic pace of everyday life.

The slowness of the ragù that simmers for hours, of walking without haste, of football faith experienced as a ritual. And it is precisely chianu chianu that the Napoli he reached the top of the championship, with determination and patience, silencing every skeptic.

In its lyrics, the anthem intertwines sporting passion and popular culture, including superstitions, proverbs, and football shrines, where Maradona remains a living, symbolic presence.

“Because in Naples, football is as sacred as religion,” says a verse, underlining how football is much more than just a sport: it is a collective identity.

Musically, the song moves between jazz atmospheres and melodic nuances typical of the Neapolitan school, thanks also to the arrangements by Mendoza himself and the contributions of musicians such as Fredy Malfi on drums, Pasquale De Angelis on bass and Gianfranco Campagnoli on trumpet.

The anthem will also be the ending theme for Lucia Cassini's TV series "Ischia Forever" and will be part of a publishing project dedicated to the connection between proverbs, superstitions, and football in Naples. A book is planned to accompany the song's release.

Making the project even more iconic is the music video by Nando De Maio and Artisti Associati, where the performers cross the pedestrian crossing Beatles-style, obviously “chianu chianu,” with ironic moments such as Angelo Di Gennaro combing his hair... which he no longer has.

Applause and laughter erupted during the press conference, which concluded with a live performance of the anthem by all the artists present. The participants, from Lucia Cassini to Patrizio Rispo, and Francesco Malapena, were thrilled and entertained, emphasizing how "Chianu Chianu" is a hymn of love for Naples, its team, and its soul.

A project that celebrates not just a sporting title, but a people and their unique way of being in the world.

The anthem presented is truly a beautiful thing for the city of Naples. I think "chianu chianu" is a fitting way to express the love we have for our team and our region, but the lyrics seem a bit complicated to me.
