Matera – Soldiers from the Naples Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza, returning from a public order and security service in Matera, performed a decisive intervention, saving the life of the driver of an articulated lorry on the Bradanica state road, between the municipalities of Irsina (MT) and Genzano di Lucania (PZ).
The accident occurred when the heavy vehicle, due to a fire of brushwood that generated smoke and flames along the roadway, hit another truck, ending up on the edge of the road and creating a situation of serious danger for traffic.
A brush fire had caused a road accident
The "Green Berets" of the Emergency Response Team, passing by the scene, responded promptly and courageously. The finance officers immediately rescued the truck driver, removing him from the burning vehicle and avoiding potentially fatal consequences.
The driver, visibly shaken but out of danger, was entrusted to medical assistance and transported to the Matera Hospital for the necessary checks.
The military also collaborated with other police forces to manage traffic in the affected area, supporting operations until the firefighters completely extinguished the fire and secured the area. The timely action of the Green Berets demonstrated, once again, the Guardia di Finanza's value and dedication to serving the community.
