Marigliano – Two stolen cars, put back on the market with counterfeit chassis and apparently in order documents.

This is what officers from the Nola Highway Police discovered recently during a check at a well-known dealership in Marigliano. A 26-year-old local man ended up in trouble, charged with money laundering, counterfeiting, and using state seals.

The officers, engaged in judicial police activity, inspected two vehicles registered in Italy and offered for sale at the showroom.

Thorough checks revealed anomalies in the chassis numbers, which differed from the original manufacturer's. Subsequent checks confirmed that both cars were stolen and that the identification numbers had been altered to make them "clean" in the eyes of the law.

The operation is part of a broader plan of controls implemented by the Highway Police to combat the trafficking of stolen and recycled vehicles.

In recent months, investigative activity has led to the seizure of numerous cars illegally reintroduced onto the market, sold to unsuspecting buyers by organizations specializing in vehicle counterfeiting and recycling.

It's incredible how criminals manage to do business with stolen cars, but law enforcement is doing a good job. We hope these checks continue to stop these crimes and protect citizens.
