Naples – Five years after the death of Mario Paciolla, a UN aid worker found dead in Colombia in 2020 under still-unclear circumstances, Naples is once again taking to the streets to demand truth and justice.

The appointment is for Tuesday 15 July 2025, with a procession that will start at 18pm from Piazza Municipio and will end at 30pm in Piazza Dante.

Following the event, at 20:00 PM, a public event will be held in Ventaglieri Park, where Antonio Musella's journalistic investigation for Fanpage will be screened. The evening will be moderated by journalist Massimo Romano and will feature institutional speakers, testimonials, and musical performances.

The initiative comes just months after the Rome Court's decision dismissing the case, classifying Paciolla's death as suicide. This conclusion is unacceptable for the family, the Justice for Mario Paciolla Collective, and numerous social groups, denouncing serious inconsistencies and unclear uncertainties.

Interventions from the world of institutions, journalism and activism
Numerous guests are expected: the deputy mayor of Naples Laura Lieto, Don Luigi Ciotti (president of Libera and Gruppo Abele), the president of the Fnsi Vittorio Di Trapani, the spokesperson for Articolo 21 Beppe Giulietti, the parliamentarians Marco Sarracino (PD) and Dario Carotenuto (M5S), the former mayor of Naples Luigi de Magistris (Unione Popolare), and the professors Chiara Ghidini and Diego Lazzarich of the University L'Orientale will speak.

There will be no shortage of voices from the worlds of information, culture, and social commitment: among them, Don Tonino Palmese (Polis Foundation), Don Tonio Dell'Olio (Pro Civitate Christiana), Don Paolo Iannaccone (Ernesto Balducci Center of Udine), Lia Cacciottoli and Mario Leombruno of the Human Rights Film Festival.

Music and memory

The tribute to Mario will continue on stage, with performances by Neapolitan artists such as PeppOh, Giuseppe Di Taranto, Dario Sansone, Maldestro, and the Banda Basaglia. This artistic, but also political, moment reaffirms that Paciolla's memory lives on through collective commitment.

During the evening, a collective manifesto will also be presented, signed by the participating organizations and symbolically delivered as a public act of the ongoing mobilization.

“The truth cannot be archived”

The Justice for Mario Paciolla Collective invites citizens, institutions, universities, and organizations to participate in large numbers. "Mario's memory cannot be archived, and the truth cannot be ignored," the appeal reads. A message that, five years after the young aid worker's death, remains charged with urgency, pain, and determination.
