Naples – Boss Massimo Venosa, considered a top member of the Casalesi clan, ala Schiavone-Venosa, remains out of prison. The Surveillance Court of Naples has in fact accepted the request of the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, ordering the continuation of the deferral of the execution of the sentence: Venosa will continue to serve his sentence under house arrest.

Originally from San Cipriano d'Aversa and resident in Airola, the 48-year-old was arrested on February 24, 2020 in execution of a definitive sentence of 10 years of imprisonment for mafia association, drug trafficking aggravated by mafia methods, extortion and racketeering.

The investigation that led to his capture – supported by wiretaps, shadowing and statements from collaborators of justice – indicated him as a leading figure in the clan, with a central role in the management of drug dealing areas, particularly in Casal di Principe, and in extortion against entrepreneurs and traders.

His profile was also drawn by the repentant Raffaele Venosa, his relative and former regent of the clan.

During the maxi-blitz that led to his incarceration, Walter Schiavone, son of the boss Francesco Schiavone, alias “Sandokan”, was also arrested.

After a period of detention in the maximum security prison of Sulmona, in 2022 the Surveillance Court of Sulmona accepted the request of the lawyer Fucci, granting the boss house arrest.

However, a subsequent ruling by the Surveillance Court of Naples ordered his return to prison in Benevento. The decision was later overturned by the Court of Cassation, which again accepted the defense's arguments. In 2024, the Surveillance Magistrate of Avellino ordered a new return to house arrest.

With its latest ruling, the Surveillance Court of Naples has confirmed the line followed in recent months, establishing that Massimo Venosa remains out of prison, under house arrest.

It's strange how justice can give permission to a boss to stay at home. Even if he did bad things, now he is at home and it is not known what they will do with him. I hope the authorities follow the situation.
