Yet another blow to the drug lords of the Lattari Mountains. This is the time of year when cannabis plants are ready to be released onto the narcotics market. And since the quality of the product coming from those areas is top-notch, there's huge demand and, more importantly, a large market.

As many as 43 shrubs of cannabis now in bloom they were seized by the military of the Provincial Command and the Naples Air and Naval Operations Department of the Naples Financial Police.

In particular, the financial police of the Castellammare di Stabia Company, together with personnel, on board a helicopter, of the Naples Air Section, discovered the crops in the municipality of Casola, even though they were cleverly hidden among the thick spontaneous vegetation that camouflaged them and made them difficult to identify.

The plants, up to one and a half metres tall, were well protected by a system of fences and “obstacles”, built ad hoc using thorn bushes and wooden fences, aimed at preventing access to the area in question.

At the end of the operations, the Fiamme Gialle of Castellammare di Stabia seized a total of 43 shrubs, which were made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata.

Investigations are still underway to identify those responsible, who, with this repressive action, were deprived of lost earnings of over 50.000 euros.

It's true that there are problems with cannabis, but law enforcement should also consider how to address the root cause of the problem, not just remove the plants.

I don't know if simply seizing plants is enough; perhaps they should do more to prevent these situations. Plants are growing more and more, and the market is very active in this area.

It's interesting to see how the authorities are cracking down on cannabis cultivation, but I wonder if it's enough to stop the trade. Demand is high, and perhaps there are other strategies to adopt.
