Naples – Five years of fear, oppression, and silence. A nightmare lived by a man who, after being subjected to constant demands for money, threats, and psychological pressure, found the strength to rebel and report his tormentors.

His testimony sparked a major operation by the Carabinieri of the Poggioreale Company's Operational Unit, which led to the arrest of a couple and the reporting of a third person in San Giovanni a Teduccio.

It all began during the night, when the victim, clearly agitated, called 112 asking for help. Over the phone, from his workplace, he told the police a story of years of oppression: a veritable siege consisting of extortion demands , intimidation, and the systematic theft of personal property.

The exhausted man finally decided to break his silence. His complaint was immediately confirmed by the Carabinieri, who pieced together a disturbing picture, piece by piece.

Officers caught a 46-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both with criminal records, in a car stolen from the victim, likely as a form of forced payment. They were also accompanied by a 28-year-old woman, also with criminal records, who was found in possession of a sum of money believed to be the proceeds of extortion. She was reported.

But the operation held further surprises. Subsequent house searches uncovered credit cards, documents, and even a property formally registered in the victim's name, but now effectively in the hands of the suspects. These were concrete signs of a methodical criminal plan, carried out with continuous and subtle psychological violence, which had gradually subverted the victim's will.

According to investigators, this case presents elements consistent with the crimes of usury and defrauding, and suggests the possible existence of a broader network. Investigations are continuing to determine the possible involvement of other individuals and to fully clarify every aspect of the affair.

The two arrested men have been transferred to prison, while the victim—who for years lived in silence and fear—now has a glimmer of justice. This courageous act breaks a long chain of abuse and reaffirms the importance of reporting the crime as the first line of defense against any form of criminal abuse.

It's strange how certain situations can happen and people don't speak up. The victim did the right thing by reporting it, but I wonder if that's really enough to stop the increasingly widespread crime. I hope the investigation continues.
