Intensified controls against illegal activities in Naples
Napoli - The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Naples is raising its stakes. In light of recent incidents of petty crime affecting the port area, and building on previous operations that have already demonstrated the effectiveness of their intervention, the Guardia di Finanza has intensified economic controls in the area.
The goal is clear: to prevent and combat the growing illegal economy plaguing the area, ensuring greater security and public order.
This crackdown comes amid a context in which the Guardia di Finanza has already demonstrated a consistent commitment to combating illegal activities. Just a few months ago, the city witnessed targeted raids against illegal trading and fraud, resulting in significant seizures and numerous charges against those responsible.
Today's operations represent a continuation of this strategy, a warning to those who believe they can operate with impunity outside the law.
Specifically, officers from the 1st Group and the Naples Emergency Response Group focused their attention on illegal parking garages, a long-standing problem in the area. Nine owners were fined for illegal occupation of public land and the unauthorized display of neon signs.
The practice of parking customers' cars on public roads, double-parked or on sidewalks, even occupying blue-lined spaces and marking off stretches of road with cones and illegal signs, created a significant obstacle to traffic and road signage. This anarchy, it is hoped, can be curbed thanks to the intervention of the finance police.
The intensification of controls also allowed us to identify four unauthorized parking, two of whom were reported at large as repeat offenders. This is a persistent phenomenon that the Guardia di Finanza continues to fight with determination, recognizing the inconvenience and risks it poses for citizens and tourists.
From July 20th to 23rd, the area of Via San Nicola alla Dogana was the scene of extensive traffic control activity. 155 individuals and 108 vehicles were identified and checked. These days included 13 fines issued for traffic violations and the seizure of a vehicle without mandatory insurance.
Finally, the fight against counterfeiting led to the seizure of 60 fake items, including bags and T-shirts with SSC Napoli logos, and the indictment of two people responsible for counterfeiting and receiving stolen goods.
In addition, over 500 clothing accessories were seized and two non-EU citizens were reported for illegal trading in public areas.
The commitment of the Guardia di Finanza Naples's crime rate remains high. Will these operations succeed in definitively eradicating petty crime and illegality in the port area? The answer will come from the field, but the decisive action of the Guardia di Finanza is a strong signal for the city.
