The Naples Police Headquarters' extraordinary checks to combat drug trafficking in the city continue unabated. In the last few hours, the State Police have arrested two men in separate operations: a 51-year-old from Casoria, with a criminal record, and a 32-year-old Nigerian, an illegal immigrant in Italy, with multiple criminal records, including for crimes against law enforcement.
The first arrest on Via Albanese
The first intervention was carried out by officers from the General Prevention Office on Via Giuseppe Leonardo Albanese, where a man, upon seeing the patrol, suddenly attempted to change direction. This suspicious behavior prompted the cops to stop him.
During the stop, the 51-year-old attempted to flee, attempting to get rid of a package hidden in a handkerchief. The officers managed to recover it: inside, approximately 10 grams of cocaine. The man was immediately stopped and searched: he also had drug packaging materials and €500 in cash, divided into small bills, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The second case in Via Milano
The second incident occurred on Via Milano, at the corner of Via Venezia, where officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station noticed a man trying to hide something in the palm of his hand and quickly walk away.
When asked to check him, the 32-year-old Nigerian man reacted violently, cursing the officers and then escalating to physical assault. He was apprehended after a brief struggle and found in possession of a package of marijuana.
The man was arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting a public official, as well as charged with illegal entry and residence in Italy and fined for possession of drugs for personal use.
The Police Headquarters crackdown
The two arrests are part of the Police Headquarters' plan to intensify enforcement efforts to curb drug dealing and ensure greater security in neighborhoods most vulnerable to petty crime. Enforcement efforts will continue throughout the city in the coming days.
