Naples – The Naples State Police's offensive against drunk and drug-impaired driving continues.

Thanks to a mobile laboratory provided by the Società Tangenziale di Napoli SpA, the Highway Police officers in Fuorigrotta intensified checks on Sunday evening, as part of a project aimed at reducing road accidents.

The balance of the operation speaks clearly: 41 vehicles and 81 people checked, 13 violations of the Highway Code contested, 27 points deducted from their driving licences, one vehicle administratively seized and two subjected to arrest.

The initiative, which will be repeated this summer, aims to promote responsible driving behavior to ensure road safety and, above all, protect human lives. It sends a strong message to combat a phenomenon that continues to pose a threat to traffic and public safety.

The idea of checking for drunk and drugged driving is important, but I don't know if the results are good. Forty-one vehicles seems like a lot, but 41 violations isn't a lot for an entire evening; perhaps they should do more.
