Naples – Another life lost on the streets of Naples. Sergio Capazzoli, 47, a security guard originally from Secondigliano, died Wednesday evening in a tragic car accident on Viale Maddalena, near the entrance to the Scampia Perimetral Highway. He had just finished his shift.
The man was riding a T-Max scooter when, for reasons still under investigation, he collided with a Toyota Yaris traveling in the same direction. The impact was extremely violent: Capazzoli was thrown from the saddle and the scooter crashed into a lamppost. The accident occurred shortly after 21:00 PM.
Rescue efforts were immediate, but the victim's condition immediately appeared critical. Rushed to the Ospedale del Mare, the 47-year-old man died shortly after arrival.
Both vehicles were seized for investigation, while the driver was tested for any mental or physical impairment. He is under investigation for vehicular homicide pending the investigation and autopsy results and will receive a formal notice of investigation.
The tragedy refocuses attention on the chronic problem of fatal accidents in Naples and the surrounding province. In the first few months of 2025 alone, dozens of victims have been reported, with the number worsening week by week.
Viale Maddalena, like many other city streets, remains one of the most dangerous roads for two-wheelers. The city mourns yet another victim, while safety concerns are growing.
