Naples: Armed robbery and seizure at Gentile jewelry store in Chiaia

PAura and violence in the heart of Naples. On the afternoon of Saturday, July 19th, around 17:10 PM, the historic Gentile jewelry store, located in the central Chiaia district, was attacked by a pair of armed robbers.

A lightning-fast and brutal attack, during which a customer was tied up and an employee was threatened with a gun.

According to the owner, who filed a complaint and contacted Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, the attack occurred a few minutes after the security guard left the store.

"A man and a woman entered. She was wearing a blonde wig and dark glasses, and he immediately pointed a gun at our employee Claudio," the shopkeeper said. "He forced him to open the safe and fill some bags, while the woman restrained one of our regular customers, Annalisa, tying her up with duct tape."

The two fled with a booty The damage is still unclear, but it looks significant. They reportedly left the scene on a scooter, later found to be stolen. "In just a few minutes, they took sixteen years of work, dreams, and sacrifice from us," said the owner. "It's a trauma we'll never forget."

The Honourable Borrelli reacted harshly, reiterating the security alarm for the city centre: "This is not a simple robbery, but a kidnapping that occurred in broad daylight, in one of the busiest and most heavily guarded areas of the city. A very serious act that undermines the safety of citizens and the dignity of those who work honestly."

The MP announced that he will call for immediate intervention from the authorities: "We need permanent police stations, effective surveillance, and targeted checks. Naples cannot become a no-man's land at the mercy of robbers. Law enforcement must analyze CCTV footage and gather testimonies to bring those responsible to justice. This crime cannot and must not go unpunished."
