Naples – The Court of Appeal of Naples, Fifth Criminal Section (President Rovida), has ordered the revocation of a multimillion-dollar asset seizure order against jeweler Raffaele Olisterno, previously accused of alleged ties to the Contini clan and organized crime.
The decision, which also affects other entrepreneurs involved in similar cases, was announced by Olisterno's lawyers, Annalisa Senese and Gennaro Pecoraro. Among the assets returned to the jeweler are the historic jewelry store located in Borgo Orefici , the beating heart of Neapolitan goldsmith art, as well as a vast real estate and goldsmith portfolio.
The seizure, previously ordered, was motivated by alleged ties to the Camorra, specifically the Contini clan, and had even received a request for a conviction. However, the Court of Cassation upheld the lawyers' appeal, remanding the case to a new section of the Court of Appeal, which today issued the revocation verdict.
Attorney Senese expressed great satisfaction, emphasizing that the decision reflects the principles of the European Court, now consolidated in Italian case law, regarding the unreasonableness of confiscating assets acquired long before the alleged crimes.
"The correctness of our legal arguments has been recognized," the lawyer stated. According to the defense, Olisterno was even the victim of intimidation by the Camorra, which he never reported for fear of retaliation.
The revocation of the confiscation represents a turning point not only for the jeweler, but also for the other businessmen involved, setting an important precedent in the fight against accusations of connections with organized crime.
