Naples – Rumors circulating in recent hours regarding alleged convictions or previous issues involving the owner of the company that rented the freight elevator from which the three workers fell to their deaths in the Rione Alto district two days ago have been denied.

Giovanni Fusco, the lawyer for the company that owns the plant, categorically stated in a statement that Mr. Napolitano "has never had any problems with the law, nor have his machinery ever had any problems."

Fusco reiterated that his company had only rented the lift to the company that was carrying out the works, emphasizing that the installation and delegation of a safety manager, responsible for ensuring compliance with the regulations, was the responsibility of the company contracted to carry out the work.

The shocking testimony of a former worker and the tribute to the victims

Meanwhile, this morning, a touching tribute was held to the victims of the accident on Via Domenico Fontana, a moment that rekindled the spotlight on a tragic event that occurred ten years ago.

Giuseppe Iaquinangelo, who was involved in a serious accident in 2015 while working for the same company involved in the Rione Alto tragedy, traveled to the scene of the tragedy accompanied by his lawyer, Giovanna Iodice, his wife Carmela, and MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli. Also participating in the initiative were Rino Nasti, Councilor of Municipality V of Europa Verde, and Rosario Pugliese, member of the Regional Executive of Europa Verde.

Iaquinangelo, now confined to a wheelchair, recounted his ordeal: he fell from about ten meters while working on a freight elevator with no railings and no harness, remaining in a coma for six months.

"When we learned that the same company was involved in the Rione Alto accident, we were shocked," said Iodice. "This incident needed to be publicly reported. These families cannot be left without justice, answers, and support."

Legislative proposals and new complaints about "death sites"

MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who recently activated a WhatsApp hotline (3662662829) to collect reports of non-compliant construction sites, has announced his intention to introduce a new parliamentary act.

“I want to emphasize that if it weren't for INAIL, Giuseppe would not have received any help, any subsidy, despite the absurd story in which he was sadly involved,” Borrelli stated.

The MP then revealed an alarming picture: "In just a few hours, we've already received numerous reports from across Italy of construction sites where work is being done in dangerous conditions and without any respect for safety regulations. The Rione Alto case is just the most extreme example of a widespread phenomenon.

That's why I'm presenting a proposal to eliminate the statute of limitations on safety-related crimes on construction sites. No more deadly construction sites! Those who put workers' lives at risk must be held fully accountable for their actions. There can be no impunity for those who exploit, kill, and then continue as if nothing had happened.
