Naples – The Naples Local Police's "Off Line" operation continues, aimed at combating dangerous driving behavior, with particular attention to cell phone use.
In the last week alone, motorcycle officers from the Territorial Intervention Group have reported 162 violations of Article 173 of the Highway Code, revoking the same number of licenses from drivers caught with their phones in their hands while driving.
At the same time, in the last few hours checks have also been intensified against illegal parking in the San Ferdinando neighbourhood, with particular attention to the areas of Piazza Municipio, via Pisanelli and via Leoncavallo. Of the 43 vehicles checked, 40 were towed away for irregularities. A total of 43 fines were issued.
The Chiaia task force, committed to combating illegal trade, also intervened in the area: officers imposed fines for the illegal sale of socks and seized the goods.
Furthermore, further violations of the Highway Code were discovered: five cases of driving while using a cell phone (with license suspension), one violation for lack of insurance coverage (with subsequent seizure of the vehicle), one for failure to use seat belts, and one for lack of registration documents.
Operation "Off Line," the Command announced, will continue in the coming days with the aim of reducing dangerous behavior and protecting road safety in the city.

The article highlights the road safety situation in Naples, but other factors that influence driver behavior should also be considered. It's important to find solutions that aren't just punitive but also educational for drivers.
