DJ arrested for murdering Russian caregiver
Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto - The Messina State Police have arrested Michelangelo Corica, a 60-year-old DJ from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, accused of the murder of the Russian caregiver Raisa Kiseleva, 75, whose lifeless body was found last July 12 in the Longano stream.
The arrest was made following the precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office Messina, who coordinated the investigation. According to the investigators' reconstruction, the episode dates back to July 7, when Corica allegedly invited the victim to follow him to his home.
The woman, who was sitting on a low wall along the creek bank at the time, reportedly refused the invitation. At that point, the man allegedly made physical contact with the 75-year-old, who, finding herself in a precarious position, fell into the creek bed.
The investigation confirmed that the caregiver was still alive at the time of the fall, but Corica apparently did nothing to help her, leaving the scene and abandoning her to her fate. The woman's body was found only a few days later. The investigation, conducted meticulously by the State Police, gathered enough evidence to indict the DJ, who is already under investigation for the murder.
The Prosecutor's Office found that Corica's behavior, both in the accident and in his subsequent failure to provide assistance, directly caused the victim's death. The arrest shocked the community of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, where the incident sparked dismay and disbelief.
Investigators are continuing their investigation to clarify further details and determine any motives behind the act. Meanwhile, Corica is in prison awaiting further developments in the trial.
Authorities are continuing to investigate to reconstruct every aspect of the tragedy, while the local community is demanding justice for Raisa Kiseleva, a woman who, it has emerged, was well-liked and known for her work as a caregiver in the area.
