Caserta – The Emergency Room of the Pineta Grande Hospital is safe. The Caserta healthcare facility announced today the revocation of the closure scheduled for July 18, after the Campania Region reached an agreement with the accredited facilities for the adjustment of the emergency-urgency service rates, which have been at a standstill for years.

Yesterday afternoon, the stalemate between the Region and the private hospitals under agreement was overcome, with the updating of the fees for the services of the Emergency Room, considered "essential to guarantee the service".

Meanwhile, the Campania awaits the approval of the Ministry of Economy to release the resources destined to contain the waiting lists, with the signing of the new 2025 contract expected "soon".

The hospital explained that it chose to backtrack so as not to burden citizens and tourists, avoiding leaving an area already fragile from a health and economic point of view uncovered. The final assessment of the sustainability of the service, however, has been postponed until the fall, when it will be known whether the Region has allocated sufficient funds to keep the facility active.

The Pineta Grande, which serves a large catchment area (from residents to vacationers of Campi Flegrei), therefore remains operational, with the hope that Campania will recognize its role in the emergency network. In the meantime, the truce avoids chaos, but the game on funding is still open.

It's good news that the Pineta Grande Hospital Emergency Room will not close, but it's hoped that the agreement with the Campania Region will also lead to improved healthcare services in the area, given the historical problems.
