Porta Capuana: A dawn brawl involving knives and broken bottles erupts.

NApoli – A morning of violence at Porta Capuana, where around 8:30 a.m. a brutal fight broke out between two men, both of foreign origin.

According to witnesses, the two men clashed with knives and shards of glass in the middle of the street, under the astonished eyes of passers-by.

Several Municipal Police patrols arrived on the scene and restored order with considerable difficulty. One of the combatants, his shirt completely soaked in blood, resisted the officers and was handcuffed and taken away.

The images of the incident, spread by some citizens, were sent to the deputy of the Green-Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who has long been denouncing the growing degradation in the area between Porta Capuana and the Vast.

"We've been reporting the chaos that dominates this part of the city for too long," Borrelli commented. "Fights, muggings, robberies, drug dealing, and drug use in broad daylight are now the order of the day. Porta Capuana has become a no-man's land, and residents are afraid. Many even avoid passing under the arch. We receive daily reports: this brawl is just the latest in a long series."

The parliamentarian then reiterated the call for decisive institutional intervention: "A special plan for control and prevention is needed throughout the area. The residents' cry for help can no longer go unheard."

Porta Capuana, once a historic symbol of the city, unfortunately once again proves to be the epicenter of urban decay.
