Carabinieri from the Naples Central branch reported a 54-year-old man who was storing approximately 2 counterfeit merchandise from SSC Napoli and other Serie A football teams in a warehouse in the Spanish Quarter.
The check was carried out as part of an operation to combat counterfeiting , an activity often in the hands of organized crime. The military targeted areas of Naples most frequented by tourists, such as the historic center and the Spanish Quarter.
There were also fireworks in the venue
The man, already known to law enforcement, was caught by Carabinieri during a plainclothes raid on a warehouse in Piazzetta San Carlo alle Mortelle. In addition to the counterfeit clothing, they also found 1,000 firecrackers and fireworks.
The premises and equipment were seized. The 54-year-old will be charged with possession of counterfeit trademarks/materials and pyrotechnics without the required permit.
It's true that Naples has many problems with the counterfeit market, but it's also sad to see how people continue to buy things that aren't original. We must do more to protect our brands and our culture.
