A theft turned robbery, a daring escape, a man dragged across the pavement to defend his job. It happened in April on Via Roma, near Scampia, where a supermarket owner bravely attempted to stop two thieves fleeing after a grocery theft. One of the two, a 45-year-old man, was arrested this morning by Carabinieri officers from the Naples Scampia station , following an order from the investigating judge of the Naples Court, at the request of the Naples Prosecutor's Office.
According to the police's reconstruction, the man had entered the supermarket intending to steal some products, but was discovered by the owner, who attempted to stop him. In a desperate attempt to prevent his escape, the shopkeeper grabbed onto the window of the car in which the robber and an accomplice had already entered. Dragged for several meters, he finally lost his grip, risking serious injuries.
The investigation, coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, relied on the analysis of images from municipal and private security cameras in the area, which allowed the 45-year-old man, now in prison, to be clearly identified. The identity of his accomplice, who is actively sought, remains unknown.
