A violent assault, the theft of a smartphone, and a stampede amid the chaos of Piazza Garibaldi. A 53-year-old man from Salerno who committed a robbery this morning on Corso Arnaldo Lucci in Naples ended up in handcuffs. The man approached a motorist stopped in traffic, physically assaulted him, and snatched the phone from his hands before attempting to flee through the crowd.
Officers from the Campania Railway Police Department , engaged in checks as part of the "Safe Stations" operation, noticed the scene. One of the officers immediately intercepted the victim's screams, as he pointed to the fleeing thief. Within seconds, a chase began, culminating in the criminal's arrest.
During the search, officers found the stolen cell phone, which was immediately returned to its owner. The 53-year-old was arrested on charges of robbery and handed over to the judicial authorities. Once again, the police presence in one of the most sensitive areas of the city center proved decisive.

It's incredible how people can be so violent. A smartphone theft and a stampede in Piazza Garibaldi are sobering. I hope law enforcement continues to do its job well and that citizens are more vigilant.
