Young Serbian man arrested for attempted theft and robbery
NNaples – Carabinieri from the Boscoreale station have arrested a 21-year-old Serbian national, considered a serious suspect in attempted burglary, aggravated robbery, and assault.
The precautionary custody order was issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata Court, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office.
The arrest took place this morning in the neighborhood Secondigliano from Naples. The 21-year-old is accused of acting in concert with a fellow Italian—also subject to the same precautionary measure, but currently unaccounted for—and at least three other as-yet-unidentified accomplices.
According to the investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Carabinieri, the group attempted two burglaries in isolated homes in the evening, using improper weapons and operating with their faces covered.
After a second failed attempt, the criminals allegedly robbed a 30-year-old woman, taking her car and acting with extreme violence: one of the gang members allegedly threw the woman's father, a severely disabled man, out of the car, immediately running him over with the car before fleeing.
