Naples – The Naples Local Police are stepping up their efforts to combat the dumping and illegal transportation of waste, completing two separate operations that resulted in the seizure of two vans and the reporting of a person responsible.
The actions, conducted by the Operational Unit soccavo, were the result of reports from citizens. The first intervention took place in via Palazziello, in the Soccavo neighborhood.
Here, the officers identified a van with foreign license plates, in an obvious state of abandonment and surrounded by over two tons of waste of various kinds. Among the piled-up materials, mixed together, construction waste, plastics, ferrous scrap and other potentially dangerous special waste were found.
The checks allowed us to trace the owner of the rental contract of the vehicle, a person already known to the police for similar precedents. The man was reported to the judicial authorities, and both the waste and the vehicle were seized.
The second operation took place in the Pianura neighborhood, again following a complaint. The officers intercepted and stopped a van reported for the illegal transportation of waste.
Further investigations revealed that the vehicle had already been subject to administrative seizure and was driving in violation of the Highway Code, a circumstance that led to the immediate seizure of the vehicle. The driver was also charged with a two-year repeat offense of driving without a license, further aggravating his position.
These operations reaffirm the commitment of the Local Police to protect the environment and combat illegal phenomena related to waste management in the Neapolitan area.
