Sorrento – The pedestrian path connecting Marina Piccola to the beach resorts and the elevator that leads from the municipal park to the port was reopened this morning.

The route was closed last March to allow for the start of redevelopment work envisaged by the urban regeneration plan, financed with NRRP funds totaling €2 million.

The work, temporarily suspended for the summer season, will resume on September 1st and aims to enhance the entire area behind the beach facilities. The project includes resurfacing the beach, modernizing the utilities and lighting system, installing surveillance cameras, and securing the tuff cliff.

Once completed, the project will also provide a direct connection between the port and the archaeological area beneath the Syrene Hotel, providing residents and tourists with a safer and more accessible public space.

The reopening of the pedestrian street is great news for residents and tourists, but I wonder if the redevelopment work will actually be completed on schedule, given the delays already present. I hope all goes well.
