Maddaloni – More blood between teenagers, another knife held by very young hands. This time the one who ended up in the hospital was a 17-year-old boy, shot in the chest by his 16-year-old girlfriend, blinded – according to initial reconstructions – by a sudden fit of jealousy.
The shot grazed the lung, leaving the young man in serious condition, although not in danger of life. It is yet another episode that shines the spotlight on an increasingly disturbing phenomenon: the widespread use of bladed weapons among minors and gratuitous violence as an emotional outlet.
The attack took place on the evening of July 3 in the Imposimato villa, the green heart of Maddaloni. The two young men were walking with a group of friends, when a banal argument, perhaps due to one glance at another girl, degenerated. She pulled out a knife and stabbed her boyfriend in the chest. A quick and precise stab, which could have turned into a tragedy.
The cries of the friends attracted the attention of passers-by.

According to the investigation coordinated by the Juvenile Court, there was a turbulent relationship between the two teenagers, characterized by frequent arguments, scenes, and toxic dynamics. The investigators are interviewing the witnesses present and have acquired the images from the video surveillance cameras of the villa.
Maddaloni's case is part of a long trail of episodes that in recent months have seen an increasing number of minors involved in attacks with cutting weapons. A phenomenon that worries educators, law enforcement and families, and that signals a growing emotional fragility in relationships between young people, often left without filters or adequate tools to be managed.
In the meantime, the 16-year-old has been arrested and will be questioned by investigators in the coming hours. The bitterness remains for another violent, impulsive and incomprehensible act, born from adolescent jealousy but resulting in an act that could have been deadly. And, once again, the knife remains as a disturbing symbol of an anger that grows in silence.

This episode is truly worrying, but it is not the first case of violence between young people. The reasons that push people to use a knife are often complex and we need to think about how to educate young people to manage emotions in a healthier way.
