EIt was an evening like any other in Trentola Ducenta, on Via Caracas, until two young men decided to pull off a botched heist. The protagonists of the story, a 26-year-old and a 19-year-old from Melito di Napoli, were arrested for attempting to steal a Lancia Y.
The couple, driving another Lancia Y (already reported stolen on July 9), showed up on the street with their faces covered and gloves on, ready to get their hands on another car of the same model. Unfortunately, the Carabinieri from the local station already had them in their sights.
While the two were trying to break into the car of a 43 year old woman Casal di PrincipeThe military rushed to the scene, stopping them in the act. At that point, the search did the rest:
Burglary tools
An OBD device for tampering with electronic control units
Documents from another stolen car
The car they were using for their travels was immediately returned to its rightful owner, while the two young men were arrested red-handed. They are now under house arrest pending a validation hearing, but the trouble doesn't end there: the Carabinieri have initiated the procedure for a mandatory expulsion order, which could force them to leave the municipality.
An evening that was supposed to be "work" but instead turned into a one-way ticket to the police station. I wonder if they've learned their lesson this time.
