A 45-year-old American tourist, vacationing on the Amalfi Coast with her family, is hospitalized in serious condition at Ruggi Hospital in Salerno after jumping from the Furore Fjord, one of the highest and most dangerous points in the area.

Initial diagnoses suggest spinal injuries: doctors have not ruled out the risk of paralysis. The woman, not a professional diver like those who compete in organized competitions every year, chose to jump from a height of about 30 meters, ignoring the dangers of an act that requires technique, preparation, and knowledge of the point of impact.

After the violent contact with the water, she fainted and was immediately recovered by rescuers.
