Luigi Giuliano, known as 'o re 'e Forcella, has returned to the heart of his neighborhood after more than twenty years.

He has completed the protection program reserved for collaborators of justice and, by order of the judicial authorities, will be placed under probation. Officers from the Vicaria-Mercato police station will keep him under close surveillance.

He left the protected area in Molise, where he had lived in recent years, and returned to the maze of alleys that he once dominated with his clan.

The rise of the “King of Forcella”

Born in 1949, Luigi Giuliano was one of the historic leaders of the Neapolitan Camorra. His criminal career began in the XNUMXs, when he inherited leadership of the Giuliano clan, based between Forcella and Tribunali, the ancient and strategic heart of the city. His charisma, ferocity, and ability to forge alliances established him as one of the most powerful bosses of the so-called "old Camorra."

Unlike other leaders, Giuliano quickly understood the importance of relationships with civil society and sport, to the point of verging on myth: his friendship with Diego Armando Maradona, during the years of Napoli's first Scudetto, projected him into the center of a popular imagination that blended football, idolatry, and criminal power.

Maradona was a guest in his homes, frequented his salons, and during that period the Giuliano family moved with an almost ostentatious visibility.

Alliances and conflicts

In the eighties, Louis Julian He joined the Nuova Famiglia, the cartel that brought together historic bosses such as Nuvoletta, Alfieri, and Zaza, against Raffaele Cutolo's Nuova Camorra Organizzata. The Camorra war bloodied Naples and the province, and the Giulianos played a leading role with their military might and economic control over Forcella.

With the fall of Cutolo and the weakening of other families, Giuliano consolidated his power in the historic center. There was no shortage of clashes with the Mazzarella, rival family based in San Giovanni a Teduccio.

But blood ties ended up strengthening alliances: the marriage of his daughter Marianna to Michele Mazzarella, son of the boss Vincenzo, sealed a pact between two historic clans.

Repentance and breaking with the past

2002 was the turning point. Louis Julian He decided to cooperate with justice. His decision was followed by several brothers, marking the end of the clan as a military power in Forcella. The domino effect of his repentance contributed to the disintegration of the historical balance, opening up new scenarios in the center of Naples.

The "King of Forcella" recounted magistrates and trials, revealing the alliances, dealings, and behind-the-scenes details of the Camorra during those years. A decision that, for many, marked the true dividing line between the old and the new Camorra.

The passion for poetry and the return

Behind the image of the boss, there's also a different side: Giuliano has never hidden his passion for writing and poetry, through which he has shared his torments and reflections over the years. An unexpected side that has accompanied him throughout the long season of their collaboration.

Now, as Cronache di Napoli reports this morning, Luigi Giuliano, also nicknamed 'o Lione or "ice eyes" for his cold, impenetrable gaze, has returned to Forcella. No longer as boss, but as a former mafia boss under state control. His return, inevitably, rekindles memories and ghosts in a neighborhood that for decades lived in the shadow of his family.

Luigi Giuliano's return to Forcella is a fascinating event. It's interesting to see how his influence remains, despite the years that have passed. I hope his presence doesn't lead to conflict.
