They attempt a robbery on a relay telephone, but were intercepted by the police and forced to flee. It happened overnight between the provinces of Benevento and Avellino, where a group of thieves targeted a Wind antenna installed in Montesarchio.
The coup, however, was interrupted by the intervention of the officers of the Police Station cervinara, alerted by the operations center. The police intercepted the criminals as they were passing through the town of Arpaia, in the Benevento area, triggering a long chase.
Hunted by the police, the thieves attempted to escape the patrol car by reaching a remote mountain area, where they abandoned the vehicle and disappeared on foot into the surrounding countryside, disappearing without a trace.
Inside the trunk of the car, which was later seized, officers found six batteries used to power the telephone network, as well as numerous burglary tools. The material, of considerable commercial value, was recovered and seized. Investigations are ongoing to identify the fugitives.

This is very interesting news, but I wonder how it's possible that there are still thieves attempting to steal such visible items. It's important that the police were quick to intervene and did a good job.
