Naples – Extraordinary checks by the Carabinieri in the heart of Naples have led to the arrest of a 22-year-old and a number of fines and reports.
The raid, conducted by men from the Naples Central company, focused on the alleys of the Spanish Quarter, an area known for drug trafficking and petty crime.
The arrest was made when the military caught the young man, a 22-year-old Neapolitan, selling a dose of marijuana to a 35-year-old non-EU citizen.
The subsequent search revealed that the dealer not only had six more doses of the same substance on him, but also €390 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity. The young man was therefore placed under house arrest, awaiting trial.
A balance of complaints and sanctions
The operation didn't stop at drug dealing. The Carabinieri reported three illegal parking attendants, already known to law enforcement, and issued 22 traffic tickets, most for driving without a helmet and without insurance, seizing two vehicles.
Commercial establishments were also inspected. In the Spanish Quarter, four establishments were fined, while three people were reported to the Prefecture for drug use.
The results of the raid demonstrate the constant commitment of law enforcement to combating degradation and illegality, in an area that continues to require close surveillance.
